Columbus Mayor Proclaims Sept. 6-9 LIVE UNITED Week

Whereas: It is the opinion of the city and community that everyone in our community
deserves access to their basic needs and self-sufficiency tools that will help stem poverty in Columbus and Bartholomew County.

Whereas: United Way of Bartholomew County and its stakeholders and advocates work diligently to provide tools that lift our residents out of poverty and into financial stability, which help strengthen our community. This important work has a positive effect on our regional economy by influencing academic achievement, economic development, workforce readiness, crime reduction, safety, and many other issues that affect our residents.

Whereas: The week of Sept. 6-9 marks the traditional kick-off of United Way’s community campaign, which allows our city residents to see how their support of United Way helps lift the entire city, community, and region, by helping reduce the poverty rate in our area.

Whereas: The City of Columbus wishes to foster work that helps reduce childhood and generational poverty and recognizes that this work is critical to the future success of our city.

Whereas: The City of Columbus is committed to supporting United Way of Bartholomew County in their work to lift our city’s children out of poverty.

NOW THEREFORE, I, James D. Lienhoop, Mayor of the City of Columbus, do hereby proclaim September 6th through 9th, 2022, as:
