UNITED WAY CENTER BI-WEEKLY REBUILDING REPORT
Issue #2, 7/20/10
Sorry about missing the bi-weekly part.I’ll try to do better. This one won’t be nearly as long as the first which required six month of catching up.
·We have final drawings, they have been approved by the state, and we have a building permit.
·Metal studs are up on the outer walls, and the metal tracks for the internal walls are on the ceiling.
·Mechanical and sprinkler rough-ins have begun on first floor.
·The UW Building Committee has approved windows to be installed on the east wall.
·There were a few requests to run water to specific agencies so that they could have a sink in their break area.We have decided to install a common break/vending room with running water available to all employees. If agencies want a private break area, they will be asked to pay the cost.
·Jan Banister, Program Chair Interior Design School of Fine Art at Ivy Tech has come forward with an offer for her classes to adopt UWC as a service learning project for next semester. The components we have discussed so far:
oAn inventory of all donated furniture housed at Carrico and in the back of UWC.This is a necessary step in the preparation for a distribution of said furniture to agencies.
oDesigning a system to direct visitors from the front door to the agency they are seeking. This might include graphics going to and at agency front doors.
